ACCOUNTANT

 

Position Summary

The Accountant is generally responsible for the key accounting functions of the company: Accounts Payable and Inventory/Cost of Sales Tracking, Account Receivable and Revenue Tracking, Payroll, Reporting and Financial Statements and Financial controls (reconciliation of accounts).

 

These essential roles and responsibilities fall under the direct supervision of the Accountant, through planning, organizing and supervision of accounting staff and coordination of day to day operations of the Accounts Department.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Performs monthly reconciliation of selected balance sheet accounts in the General Ledger.
  • Ensures that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly by Accounts Staff in preparation for Annual Audit and as part of our review of the accuracy of monthly accounting data.
  • Assists with the Annual External Audit.
  • Prepares VAT returns bi-monthly and Green Fund Levy and Business Levy Calculations quarterly.
  • Preparation of final monthly general ledger journals, accounts payables, inventory and receivables journals as needed for final period close.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring of accounting procedures to ensure that controls are in place to prevent and detect fraud.
  • Reconciliation Inventory in accounts with physical quantities by assisting with regular physical counts and preparing variance reports.
  • Review and evaluate the Fixed Asset Register for updates and accuracy of monthly journals.
  • Review the accuracy of costings for imported goods prepared by the Purchasing Section
  • Prepares Closing Stock Overhead allocation to units manufactured monthly.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • ACCA, CIMA, Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Three (3) Years accounting experience in a Supervisory Capacity.
  • Proficient in the use Accounting Software – Sage 50 or similar.
  • Experience in preparing and interpreting financial reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
