Royal Castle Limited is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following temporary position:

ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES 

 

  • Updating journals
  • Statutory payments including VAT, PAYE, Health Surcharge and NIS
  • Verifying and receiving Supplier Invoices and entering into system for payment
  • Data entry of Supplier Invoices and cheque payments
  • Preparing Cheque Vouchers, cheques and petty cash for reimbursement
  • Distributing Cheques on a daily basis
  • Updating various spreadsheets (monthly supplier)
  • Requesting and reconciling Supplier Statements
  • Responding to queries from Suppliers
  • Assisting with monthly, quarterly and year end statutory and management reports
  • Filing of invoices and reports
  • Maintaining an accurate listing of accounts payable

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

      Knowledge: 

  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles and knowledge of standard accounts payable policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Knowledge of purchase orders and related accounts payable documentation.
  • Sound knowledge of Peachtree Accounting system as well as Microsoft Office Suite (emphasis on Excel)
  • Excellent numerical and written and oral communication skills

 

 

Ability to:

  • Understand and interpret vendor invoices, statements and other requests for payment
  • Reconcile General Ledger Accounts and perform vendor statement reconciliation
  • Perform basic data entry and process computer data, to format and generate reports
  • Work with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency to meet deadlines
  • Function in a multi-disciplined team environment
  • Critically analyse and solve problems

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Minimum qualification of ACCA Level I (completed)
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Accounts Payables and General Accounting duties
  • Experience in Inventory Management would be considered an asset
