Accounts Clerk – Inventory

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain/update inventory subledger for new items and changes to existing items in relation to price levels, costing, location, descriptions etc.
  • Monitor stock levels, set reorder levels, receive requisitions and prepare purchase orders
  • Match order forms with goods received notes, import documentation and supplier invoices
  • Prepare landed cost calculation and record inventory receipts in the system.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise stock counts with warehouse personnel and ensure approved inventory count controls are adhered to
  • Reconcile discrepancies found in records and report to management
  • Prepare stock adjustment entries for approval and update the system with actual quantities
  • Receive and resolve queries relating to inventory items from billing clerks
  • Post inventory transfer entries (e.g. raw materials à production à finished goods storage locations)
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper coding
  • Review and evaluate inventory reports
  • Provide suggestions improve the inventory controls
  • Assist with audits and other accounting/financial department duties as required
  • Participate in special projects relating to inventory which may arise from time to time.
  • Any other accounting tasks relating to the area of inventory as may be determined by the Directors or the External Accountant.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Level 1 ACCA, FIA or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the area of inventory accounting and controls
  • Experience in the inventory accounting module of Peachtree Accounting
  • Ability to confidently engage with various levels of staff across the company.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Energetic with positive and proactive approach in the workplace.
  • Self-motivated and able to adhere to deadlines
  • Highly organized approach to work and ability to multi–task and prioritize effectively with demonstrable ability to work on own initiative.
