JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Officer is responsible for the development of new business and maintaining relationships with existing customers and suppliers. The Business Development Officer must also ensure that the needs of the suppliers and customers are met. This involves monitoring of activities and performance of staff in handling their assigned duties. It requires identifying the opportunities for growth, recommending solutions for any issues encountered and implementation.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Business Development Officer is responsible for following up with all suppliers/customers and the collection/delivery/shredding team to make sure that all collections/deliveries/shredding jobs are executed in a timely manner.

 

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Generate proposals and arrange meetings with prospective suppliers to acquire new business and revenue streams.
  2. Foster and cultivate lasting relationships with new and existing suppliers/customers.
  3. Collaborate with suppliers/customers to improve and develop innovative recycling programs within the workplace by leading informative presentations, motivating employees and providing informational materials.
  4. Coordinate and schedule all confidential shredding jobs, prepare quotations, invoices, and Certificates of Destruction.
  5. Updating of invoice tracker and pursue collections for shredding jobs, ensuring Accounts Receivables don’t exceed 30 days.
  6. Assisting the team with logistical support for both local and international movement of recyclable materials, by preparing loading manifests and coordinating with management and the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure deliveries run smoothly.
  7. Manage the Tetra Pak International Recycling Program by monitoring community recycling bins, liaising with stakeholders regularly to ensure bins are serviced on time, growing the program nationally and educating the public through valuable public outreach campaigns and information dissemination.
  8. Maintain and update database with supplier and customer records.
  9. Prepare monthly Certificates of Recycling for suppliers.
  10. Solving problems that may arise in collection, delivery or shredding of materials.
  11. Establish new business and rekindle credible business relationships by regularly meeting clients to address complaints, offer new items and manage payments.
  12. Compile all accounts applications for approval by the Director and Accounts departments.
  13. Responsible for tracking of customer payments.
  14. Ensuring that key account customers are notified via email and telecommunication of price changes based on market prices.
  15. Recommend adjustments in selling/purchasing prices by monitoring costs, competition, supply and demand.
  16. Ensure that the collection/delivery team completes their assigned duties.
  17. Provide support for the HSE Manager by hosting monthly toolbox meetings and keep maintenance logs and files up to date.

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Perform other duties that maybe required to develop and enrich the performance of the company as requested by management.

  1. Give all drivers/loaders precise instructions of their responsibilities for correct working methods, in particular to ensure that they do not allow operatives to take unnecessary risks.
  2. Conduct HSE Toolbox Talks at least once per month.

 

Safety Equipment

  1. The Business Development Officer will ensure that Supervisors and all other Employees are aware of, and comply with, requirements for safe work practices as well as safe and healthful conditions on job sites.

 

HSE Inspections

  1. The Business Development Officer shall conduct, at a minimum one HSE inspection every three (3) months to ensure that:
  2. All work areas comply with HADCO’s and project HSE guidelines and SOPs.
  3. If unsafe conditions exist, corrective action is taken and Management and HSE Manager are informed of inspection results.
  4. All sub-contractors and sub-contractor personnel comply with applicable HSE regulations where applicable.

 

In the Event of an Accident

The Business Development Officer shall assist in incident investigation and reporting process, in accordance with HADCO’s SOPs. They will review all accidents with Supervisors and submit a full accident report to the HSE Manager for review who will then submit it to the Executive Chairman. The Business Development Officer will work with Management to ensure corrective actions are taken in a timely manner to alleviate causes.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 5 (Five) CXC O’Level Passes.
  2. Candidate must be computer literate and experienced in using Excel, Word and database programs.
  3. Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office to process correspondences with internal and external customers.
  4. Working Vehicle.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. First Degree in Marketing or Business Management.
  2. 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  3. Experience in the recycling field would be an asset.
  4. Working Vehicle.
  5. Fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
