COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

The Communications Officer would support the Corporate Communications Officer by implementing, recommending and executing programmes and policies as required by the Organisation’s Mandate.

The function is multi-faceted and would require an experienced communications professional.

The incumbent would be required to focus among other duties on internal communications to ensure that all employees are kept updated on activities, and information which affect their on-the-job performance.

The Communications Officer would also provide support to key aspects of the duties of the Senior Communications Officer.

Reports to:  Senior Communications Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaises and interacts with personnel of the organization to ensure that communications policy considerations are adequately integrated into its operations;
  • Provides updates to the Communications Director on internal communication matters, and seeks solutions or provides recommendations to resolve potential issues;
  • Analyses current events, public comments and press opinions by scanning all media daily to elicit information which is directly related to the organization;
  • Prepares a monthly report and analysis of media trends for submission to the Senior Communications Officer;
  • Organizes internal events such as lunch & learn sessions and other strategies contained in the organization’s Communications Plan which seek to develop strong internal staff linkages;
  • Facilitates staff training sessions and seminars in areas such as: the conduct of meetings, customer relations, organization protocol, and other topics identified or requested by staff;
  • Writes and/ or overseas the preparation, production and dissemination of both routine and complex outreach products such as brochures, briefs, newsletters, news releases, articles, Power Point presentations;
  • Coordinates and organizes public consultations, conferences, and events (if required).
