TITLE: Construction Supervisor

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Senior Project Manager



The Construction Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that the Company’s construction activities are executed in accordance with the construction drawings and design specifications ensuring that the quality and workmanship standards are met while maintaining a safe work environment.

This includes oversight of the construction activities that take place on the Company’s work sites and the supervision of the General Contractors and their Subcontractors, suppliers and nominated subcontractors. He/she will assist the respective Project Manager in ensuring that the goals of the program are achieved.



  1. Review all drawings and specifications for assigned projects ensuring consistency across drawings, and highlighting any inconsistencies to the Project Manager for rectification prior to construction, thereby facilitating ease of construction.
  2. Interpret specifications highlighting deviations from specified civil procedures to the Project Manager, to ensure full compliance with QA/QC inspection plans and procedures.
  3. On each project, ensure that construction is in accordance with the drawings and specifications, and that the quality standards described in the contract documents are being met
  4. Ensure that the Contractors’ Foremen/Supervisor and Lead men understand and implement the work plan, by explaining and engaging in proactive communication with the crews.
  5. Supervise and lead Foremen, Lead men, skilled labour, and work crews in all activities for assigned projects.
  6. Enforce strict compliance with all QA/QC and Safety procedures, and any other Company rules and regulations on project sites.
  7. Recommend improvements to policies, procedures and work practices where necessary.
  8. Assist the Project Manager in optimising resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the project.
  9. Identify and troubleshoot construction problems, offering timely and safe solutions.
  10. Liaise with other disciplines to ensure the optimum interface of the various operational activities, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.
  11. Monitor and track daily progress and work completed, comparing planned to actual, and taking appropriate mitigating action to ensure compliance with the plan, based on knowledge of available manpower, equipment, materials.
  12. Follow the three week and one week look‐ahead plans for the civil works of the project, in close liaison with construction, planning and other departments and disciplines.
  13. Review quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, in order to minimise wastage and inefficiency.
  14. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including health and safety regulations associated with the implementation of assigned projects at all times.
  15. Any other duties as required.




  1. To direct all Contractor Foremen, Supervisor, Lead men, nominated suppliers and service contractors, skilled labour, and work crews to ensure completion of projects on time and in accordance with contract specifications.



  1. Works closely with the Project Manager in maintaining project timeline and quality control.
  2. Organises site personnel under his control and monitors their performance and safety.



  1. Ability to supervise and direct workers/contractors with minimal supervision and command their respect.
  2. Ability to give instructions and transfer knowledge in an efficient and effective way to co‐ workers and staff.
  3. Ability to schedule work activity and multitask.
  4. Extensive knowledge of land development and building construction acquired through formal training and field experience.
  5. Competent in reading and understanding Specifications, drawings, and all other discipline related project and engineering documentation.
  6. Ability to critically assess craftsmanship.
  7. Good problem solving skills

  10. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook & Project.




  1. A Technician’s Diploma in Civil Engineering/ Construction or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. Must have a basic understanding and a working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  3. Minimum of five (5) years at the level of Site Supervisor in the Housing Industry
  4. Familiarity with generally accepted construction principles and practices
  5. Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  6. Must have a proven track record of executing housing (single and multi-dwelling) projects from foundation to finish which includes but not limited to punch listing, snagging and ensuring all stages of construction is completed with the highest standard of quality and workmanship. Other types of construction projects will be an asset.
