JOB TITLE: Construction Technician I DEPARTMENT: Project
LOCATION: Head Office  REPORTS TO: Project Team Leads (Senior Site Technician, Project or Resident Engineer)
JOB SUMMARY AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES The Role of a Construction Technician entails overseeing site administration and inspecting construction works under the guidance of Project Team Leads. The ideal candidate is expected to possess the following attributes:

PRINCIPAL ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Inspect daily works to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications. 
  • Supervise the final details of construction and architectural projects. 
  • Record and collate pile load test readings.
  • Complete daily inspection reports and diaries for approval.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports for review and approval.
  • Maintain a record of material encountered during all excavations.
  • Ensure materials are installed correctly and according to specifications. 
  • Liaise daily with Contractor personnel to keep track of activities and reports, resolve issues relating to the execution of works, and provide guidance and direction on the construction details
  • Review the contractor’s monthly schedule of on-site materials for payment processing. 
  • Perform minor survey duties and assignments as required.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure that all completed work meets industry standards, specifications, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Advise on and record areas of non-conformance by the Contractor.
  • Advise on potential issues and claims. 
  • Undertake pile driving records.
  • Assist the Project Team leads in carrying out all duties.
  • Use problem-solving skills to find creative solutions and overcome obstacles to achieve high-quality results.
  • In addition to the above responsibilities, execute any other related duties that contribute towards the objectives of the project and organization.
HSE AND QUALITY ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing duties.
  • Capable of monitoring and ensuring work is carried out in a safe manner to prevent accidents or injuries, complying with policies, standards, and procedures. 
  • Identify and report all unsafe acts and conditions present in the operations.
  • Address any issues or concerns to ensure the completed works align with the overall project goals and timelines.  
  • Understand the right to stop work, other employees’ work, or third-party employees’ work where there is an unacceptable risk.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
  • Civil Engineering Technician (C.E.T) certificate or similar qualifications or combination of experience and qualification. 
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in construction supervision work.

  • AutoCAD / Civil 3D
  • Solid working knowledge and use of surveying and survey equipment
