JOB DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION

Database Administrator

 

JOB SUMMARY

The candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the student database. He/she involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain and administer the current database.
  2. Back-up data
  3. Migrate data to new platform
  4. Lead software integration projects
  5. Creating queries to extract information and generate a variety of report options for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties
  6. Development of custom forms, reports or exports using various tools
  7. Provide technical guidance to database application users
  8. Insure the integrity of database through regular review
  9. Document standards, procedures and systems process relating to data input
  10. Troubleshoot malfunctions of the databases system
  11. Oversee auditing of the current database as well as the research, selection and implementation of any new database modules and/or systems to facilitate best practices.
  12. Be knowledgeable about technology trends in schools and universities.
  13. Facilitate dissemination of information to students
  14. Other related functions as required.

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field Certification in Database Management (Microsoft/Oracle/SQL) Three (3) years’ experience in a similar role

 

ATTRIBUTES

Sound communication skills (orally – in person or by telephone, and in written form)

Must possess the ability to Interpret and or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Awareness of the NESC’s business/environment

Good knowledge about the NESC and programs offered Good interpersonal and communication skills

Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals, and ability to use office software applications (Microsoft Suite)
