JOB DESCRIPTION 

TITLE: Engineering Technician 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Senior Project Manager/ Technical Operations Manager 

CORE FUNCTIONS: 

The Engineering Technician performs a multifaceted role supporting the Technical Operations  Department and Brookhaven Projects Site. This includes supporting both departments with construction  and MEP services oversight, administrative duties, walk-throughs, site documentation, filing, and  procurement functions as well as oversight of the activities that take place on the Company’s work sites and at times conducting supervision/snagging at finishing stages of a particular project as guided by  immediate supervisor with the objective of meeting project deadlines and commitments. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Engineering Technician 

  1. Provide administrative duties and clerical support to site personnel to relieve them of some of the  routine daily administrative tasks. 
  2. Organise and accurately maintain documents. 
  3. Review the quantities of materials received or used during specified periods to minimize wastage  and inefficiency. 
  4. Assist with implementing and maintaining a system of tracking and record keeping of materials received on site. 
  5. Liaise and coordinate with suppliers and CHL personnel to ensure the optimal scheduling/delivery  of materials for the project on time as required. 
  6. Assist with coordinating Contractor(s) during the defects liability period and scheduling of  potential repair works between the Contractor(s) and CHL departments. 
  7. Follow up with Contractors to receive specific certifications during and after the project’s  completion (e.g., compaction test, termite treatment test, water and electrical inspection  certification, etc.). 
  8. Assist in the preparation of handover documentation and reports to other CHL departments as required. 
  9. Liaise with other disciplines to ensure the optimum interface of the various operational activities,  with the overall objective of completing the project. 
  10. Inspects and verifies that all materials delivered to the construction site comply with contractual  requirements. 
  11. Obtain quotations and quotes from suppliers and service providers as required to support the  respective departments 
  12. Participate and conduct snagging of works during construction and at the finishing stages of the  works 
  13. Assist in ensuring construction and services providers are in accordance with the drawings and  specifications, and that the quality standards described in the contract documents are being met.
  1. Assist in enforcing strict compliance with all QA/QC and Safety procedures, and any other Company rules and regulations on project sites. 
  2. Aids in the monitoring and tracking of daily progress and work completed for both departments 

AUTHORITY: 

  1. To support the site through technology, organizational skills, preparation, and maintenance of  site documentation. 
  2. To provide support to the Project teams including Project Engineers and Supervisors 

RELATIONSHIPS: 

  1. Works closely with the Project Engineers and site supervisors to help maintain the project timeline  and quality control. 
  2. Coordinates with site personnel, Contractors, service providers, and CHL departments as  necessary to ensure accurate and timely receipt of materials and management of works. 

REQUIRED SKILLS: 

  1. Ability to give instructions and transfer knowledge efficiently and effectively to co‐workers and  staff. 
  2. Ability to schedule work activity and multitask. 
  3. Ability to review and interpret civil, structural, and MEP drawings. 
  4. Knowledge of land development and building construction acquired through formal training and  field experience. 
  5. Competent in reading and understanding Specifications, drawings, and all other discipline-related project and engineering documentation. 
  6. Liaise with other disciplines to ensure the optimum interface of the various operational activities,  with the overall objective of successful completion of the project. 
  7. Strong time management and the ability to prepare reports and administer necessary paperwork.
  8. Ability to critically assess craftsmanship. 
  9. Good attention to detail. 
  10. The ability to work on your initiative and as part of a team. 
  11. Good problem-solving skills. 
  12. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. 
  13. Good interpersonal skills. 
  14. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of tools. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Certification / Technical Diploma in a Construction-related field from a recognized institution.
  2.  At least one (1) year experience in a similar role on-site. 
  3. Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  1. Tasks are completed on target. 
  2. Reports are prepared and submitted within set timelines and are in keeping with the format and  quality of reporting required. 
  3. Site documentation is accurately maintained and easily accessible to the respective departments
  4. Project oversight and reporting.
