CAREER OPPORTUNITY

 

THE NICHOLAS GROUP OF COMPANIES, owner and operator of Radisson Trinidad Ltd, Radisson Aquatica Resort Barbados, Radisson Grenada Beach Resort, Nicholas Towers and Nicholas Development has a vacancy for the position of Facility Improvement Manager for Radisson Trinidad Ltd.  This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join a large group of companies as part of a dynamic, progressive team and to develop his/her career.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises, develops and maintains an ongoing maintenance routine operation for the hotel, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, hotel rooms, air/heating units, ice machines, swimming pool, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, etc.
  • Plan, schedule, assign and supervise the Engineering department staff.
  • Oversee the maintenance tasks, work orders and special projects ensuring timely and accurate completion. 
  • Oversee and manage any refurbishments that are being carried out at the hotel.
  • Must be capable and familiar in liaising with contractors throughout the refurbishment period.
  • Must be able to interpret quotations from suppliers and determine the most cost-effective options for the company.
  • Works closely with other departments (i.e., Front Office, Housekeeping Departments, and Food & Beverage on maintenance and repairs issues) to ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
  • To amend plans and schedules according to the needs of the hotel operation, the circumstances, and the instructions from the General Manager.
  • To carry out monthly status reports for the machinery and industrial equipment. 
  • To produce a monthly, quarterly, and annual Preventive Maintenance Plan for every area of the Hotel.
  • To determine the quantity of materials required for the operation of the hotel on a monthly and quarterly basis, ensuring adequate supply of resources are held to carry out daily maintenance duties.
  • To produce a budget annually to the General Manager on maintenance functions to be carried out. 
  • To check and control that the execution and quality processes are done adhering to Standard Operating Procedures for the facilities and all equipment.
  • Provide training to staff on supplies, inventory, maintenance and ordering procedures.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with all levels of staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical/Structural Engineering/Technical Degree and additionally any qualifications in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical would be an asset.
  • Minimum of (5) years’ experience within a four-star hotel environment, or demonstrated experience in the construction industry would be an asset. 
  • Knowledgeable of building management and engineering. 

 

SKILLS Required:

  • Good communication skills and committed to delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Effective Planner and Scheduler.
  • Must be flexible in working on weekends and public holidays if required (subject to the hotel and group needs).
  • Demonstrate strong Analytical abilities.
  • Good decision-making ability.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Should have good Negotiation tactics.

Salary compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
