Job overview:

Our company currently has an opening for an experienced Human Resource Officer. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and maintaining our human resource requirements across all our storefronts, administrative offices, and warehouse locations, in alignment with the strategic direction and vision.

The HR officer is responsible for processing all disciplinary matters whilst meeting all industrial relations requirements.

This involves planning, implementing, and enforcing all systems and operational procedures, succession planning, talent management, training and development, employee engagement, compensation and benefits amongst other significant key areas of focus. The successful applicant will report directly to Senior Management.


Essential duties and functions:

  • Partner with senior management to effectively develop, implement, enforce, and continuously update systems and operational procedures
  • Liaise with senior management on a regular basis to ensure human resource requirements are met, whilst maintaining operational and financial efficiency
  • Apply expertise on employee relations matters, such as disciplinary action, performance management
  • Provide guidance of the labour laws of Trinidad & Tobago, to ensure legal compliance
  • Conduct recruitment exercises, inclusive of interviews
  • Maintains an effective employee filing system
  • Maintains an effective diary for follow-up for key activity areas
  • Ensures contracts are up to date, accurate and maintained in a timely manner
  • Coordinates disciplinary action, such as investigations, drafting letters, facilitating meetings, preparing recommendations and action plans for consultation with senior management.
  • Liaises with attorneys and Industrial Relations practitioners when required
  • Holds regular meetings/focus groups with various departments to seek feedback on key business issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate, motivate and influence stakeholders

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • First Degree in Human Resource Management or a related discipline
  • Minimum five (5) years working experience in a similar position
  • Detailed knowledge of Labour Laws and Industrial Relations in Trinidad & Tobago
