Position title:  Claims Technician

Reports to: Managing Director

 

Objective

Handle all  claims processing from beginning to end, ensuring all incoming claims are registered, and that decisions on the extent and validity of a claim made on Insurance Policies are dealt with efficiently and equitably.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge receipt of the claim and provide advice on making a claim and the processes involved.
  • Guide customers through the claims process, collect accurate information and documents to proceed with a claim.
  • Notify Insurers of claim immediately and follow up as necessary to ensure satisfactory completion.
  • Ensure that Claims Register is kept in a current and updated manner
  • Be Familiar with the different types of Risks to be able to have constructive discussions with insurers.
  • Follow up on appointment of Adjusters/Investigators
  • Arrange and follow up any action that is needed.
  • Monitor the progress of a claim through continuous follow-up and timely updates to the Claimant and addressing any concerns as they arise.
  • Initiate the claim recovery process in accordance with Company’s guidelines and procedures.
  • Negotiate if necessary.
  • Review incoming reports to ensure recommended settlement from external adjusters and/investigators are equitable to all parties.
  • Ensure the customer is treated fairly and that the customer receives excellent service in accordance with Company guidelines.

  • Ability to provide quality service to internal and external clients, including demonstrated commitment to improvement of service.
  • Ability to complete job assignments, including judgement, problem solving, and use of appropriate resources in decision making.
  • Handle all clients queries quickly and in an efficient manner

  • To maintain professional development   by keeping up to date on changes and new developments  in the fields of general insurance and  Risk Management.
  • To support the Unit’s productivity by displaying the behaviors associated with a professional work ethic.

 

 

Qualifications 

  • Certification in Insurance State License
  • Certificate CII
  • Minimum 5 years working in an claims environment

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good Insurance knowledge and skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the range of insurance products and services available on the market.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements and how to meet these on a day-to-day basis.
  • Must be self-confident, creative and proactive
  • Must have a Neat, Personal and Corporate Appearance
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Insurance Market
  • Loyalty and Confidentiality
  • Computer Literate – Microsoft Office – Word, Power Point, Excel
