The Marketing & Communications Assistant is responsible for implementing Marketing & Communication strategies and programmes designed to increase VENTURE’s business, build brand awareness, maintain and improve its relationship with its members, as well as to build public and employee awareness of its activities.
All activities must be geared toward maintaining the highest level of service to members and must conform to the guidelines and standards set by the organization
Duties & Responsibilities:
Works under the direction of the Marketing & Communications Manager to help reach the Credit Union’s marketing goals and objectives
Assisting in creating and implementing the Credit Union’s Marketing and Communications strategies
Assist in managing the Marketing and Communications budget
Research market trends, demographics, pricing strategies, and other relevant information that helps managers and directors develop marketing plans
Analyses surveys, polls, and other market research to look for patterns and trends
Creates graphs, reports, and detailed data analysis using computer software
Delivers reports on research findings through written documents and verbal presentations
Assists in creating promotional materials, including brochures, etc.
Provides support to the department with the creation of flyers, artwork, etc using relevant graphics software
Provides fact-checking, copy-editing, and formatting assistance during the creation of mailers, coupons, website content, and other promotional materials
The ability to formulate messages in the form of – media briefs, CEO’s message, message to the membership, articles for publication
Lends support in the role of communication and/or marketing for relevant Committees
Assist in evaluating advertising opportunities; reviewing current and new contracts.
Liaises with media, advertising agencies and other vendors
Represents the Marketing & Communications Manager at events, interviews etc.
Helps maintain all social media accounts for products and/or services with advertising content, graphics etc.
Enters marketing data into spreadsheets and helps to create data and financial reports for the Marketing & Communications Manager and the Executive
Helps maintain excellent member relationships through superior member service skills
Assists with organising and planning the production of all major marketing materials by working closely with printers and other involved parties
Assists with keeping members and internal staff informed by the dissemination of information on the Credit Union’s events and promotions.
Helps to plan and execute promotional events hosted by the Credit Union’s Marketing & Communications department
Visits stakeholders, partners, vendors on a regular basis to maintain relations and create new partnerships
Engages with Members on a regular basis to ensure effectiveness of marketing initiatives
Keeps client information confidential
Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the organisation by implementing approved Marketing & Communication strategies and programmes
Supports engagement initiatives including management of relations with members, media, employees and other stakeholders
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications.
Performs other related duties as may be required by the Department
Education and Experience:
BSc in Social Sciences, Management, Marketing or related field
At least three (3) years professional experience in Marketing & Communication
Experience in graphic designs and use of relevant software would be considered an asset
Special Abilities and Aptitudes:
Intermediate to advanced level experience using SPSS and other data collection software
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Effective administrative and project management skills.
Social media tools and techniques
Project Management capabilities
Excellent writing skills
Willing to accept changes with the needs of the work environment
Knowledge of metrics, analytics and understanding of campaign effectiveness.
Knowledge of PR, marketing, business communications and lead generation.
