UNIPET is seeking suitable qualified applications for the position of:

Mechanical Technician I – Auto Electrical

PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide efficient and effective Mechanical and Electrical repairs and maintenance to the fleet of company vehicles.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To ensure the availability of the Fleet of Vehicles for the transport of Petrochemical Product, through the timely and efficient Mechanical and Electrical repairs and maintenance of the vehicles.
  • Through continuous learning, to keep abreast of changing technologies in vehicles used for the transport of Petrochemical Product, and the associated maintenance requirements.
  • To contribute to ensuring an organize, tidy and well-maintained space for maintenance of the Company’s fleet.
  • To contribute to the proper handling and care of the set of tools, equipment, and spare parts for the maintenance of the Company’s fleet of vehicles.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Perform maintenance on the fleet of vehicles in accordance with the preventative maintenance schedule for each vehicle.
  • Perform periodic random inspections of vehicles in the fleet, as instructed by the Mechanic Technician II.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle failure problems to accurately determine cause(s) and required remedial actions.
  • Ensure timely and efficient Mechanical and Electrical repairs and maintenance to the fleet of vehicles, minimising the downtime for assigned vehicles.
  • Assist the Mechanic Technician II in trending on the Mechanical and Electrical repairs and maintenance to vehicles on the fleet to anticipate problems and advise on measures to address recurring issues, minimise vehicle downtime and extend the useful life of the vehicles.
  • Keep the Mechanic Technician II apprised of major vehicle non-conformances, the remedial actions being taken and the anticipated time for returning the vehicle to service.
  • Contribute to the preparation of Maintenance Cost Reports for each RTW.
  • Ensure that the tools and equipment for the maintenance of vehicles are kept organized and in good condition.
  • Contribute to ensuring that the Maintenance Workshop is kept to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, environmental stewardship, and aesthetics, in accordance with Company Policy and regulatory requirements

 

 

Purchasing

  • Assist the Mechanic Technician II, Warehouse Clerk and Transport Team Leader in determining spare parts and ancillary items to be stocked, and stock reorder thresholds.
  • Assist in forecasting the demand for spare parts.
  • Submit timely requests to the Mechanic Technician II and Ware clerk for depleting workshop consumables – engine oil, gloves, etc.
  • Provide the Procurement Clerk with clear, thorough specifications for vehicle spare parts to be procured.
  • Along with the Warehouse Clerk, inspect spare parts being received into the warehouse, as required.
  • Assist in providing performance feedback to Procurement on vendors engaged for services or product.

 

Loss Prevention

  • Assist in monitoring and ensuring effective implementation of controls aimed at preventing loss of product, time, spare parts, etc.
  • Support the investigation of potential misappropriation of Petrochemical Products and spare parts.

ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Physically able to operate, interface with and manually handle the Company equipment in keeping with the Company’s procedures for proper manual handling techniques, and which may involve bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
