Purchasing & Inventory Control Officer

Reports to: Laboratory Manager

 

Summary of duties:

Perform the function of purchasing and inventory control of all laboratory reagents, office supplies and consumables.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Conducts the inventory status of all chillers and storage rooms by checking the current laboratory reagents, consumables and office supplies on a regular basis.
  2. Responsible for ensuring that items are recorded in an inventory software or excel system.
  3. Performs acceptance/rejection checks for all receivables at the main laboratory.
  4. Receives and stores appropriately the new orders delivered from the suppliers according to documented procedures i.e. specific storage conditions, temperature, humidity, expiration dates etc.
  5. Packs and dispatches laboratory reagents and consumables to different locations, sample collection supplies to staff, outstations, doctors and clients.
  6. Prepares a report to the laboratory manager on supplies received, used and dispatched to all centers.
  7. Liaises with suppliers/clients to ensure quality of services, reagents and kits supplied.
  8. Performs suppliers’ evaluations both Local and Foreign on a scheduled basis.
  9. Performs any other related duties as requested by Medical Director/Deputy Medical Director.

Competence Requirements: (Education, Training, Experience, Attributes):

Education:

–          Diploma in Procurement/Supply Chain Management or any other relevant qualifications

Training/Certificate (asset):

–          Certificate/Training in Inventory Management or a relevant field.

–          Computer Technology

Experience (asset):

–          At least 1 year relevant experience.
