Project:         Residential, high rise construction

MAIN OBJECTIVE

Assist in the management of all cost relating to a construction project, from the initial calculations to the final figures. QST will seek to minimize the cost of the project and enhance value for money while achieving the required standards and quality.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Managing cost on assigned project(s)
  2. Cost analysis
  3. Assisting in the establishment of client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
  4. Preparing early stage budgets and detailed cost plans
  5. Performing risk and value management and cost control
  6. Advising on procurement strategy
  7. Preparing tender and contract documents, including bill of quantities
  8. Assist in the preparation of a project procurement schedule
  9. Identifying, analyzing costings for tenders
  10. Establishing and operating cost and financial control systems
  11. Negotiating to with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure budgets are not exceeded
  12. Providing advice on contractual claims
  13. Analyzing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
  14. Valuing completed work and preparing payment certificates for subcontractors and suppliers
  15. Developing knowledge relevant to contract conditions and their applications
  16. Maintaining awareness of Conditions of Contract applicable in the industry
  17. Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations
  18. Prepare and submit applications for interim payments
  19. Carries out measurement exercise on the basis of the relevant Standard Method of Measurement to verify adequacy of quantities stated in the Contract Bills of Quantities
  20. Agrees Final Account
  21. Makes recommendations to improve systems

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Certificate in Civil Engineering/Construction Engineering/Quantity Surveying from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying work environment.
