Residing within the Production Department this position is responsible for the coordination of all DCS, field operations and relevant Team on Shift during routine and non-routine scenarios such as, start-up, shutdown and emergencies, and for linking of all operations on Facility. Initially, particular emphasis will be placed on training and development and any other site operational support in preparation for the commercialization of the Facility.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:- taking required actions to ensure stable process control, quality control and safe, efficient product transfer operations; responding to all abnormal plant conditions and assuming full responsibility for facility and personnel, in the absence of the Senior Operator II and the Production Supervisor, and making all decisions necessary to safeguard the Facility. The position is accountable for controlling, operating and monitoring the Facility within approved operating parameters/procedures to meet daily production ensuring environmental and safety specifications are met, and responding to Facility upsets and emergencies in an effort to minimize production loss and equipment failure; is the liaison with Plant Engineers in planning and scheduling work, and constantly monitors Facility equipment by recording plant readings and carrying out preliminary assessment of non-normal plant conditions and makes proposal for corrective action. Additional duties include ensuring optimum production capacity within safety parameters; policy and procedure development, and monitoring work permit procedures.
Qualifications/ Experience Required
Must possess PPO/MEET/EET diploma OR Engineering degree OR 5 CXC O’ level passes including Maths, English and Chemistry, and 2 GCE A’ level passes including Chemistry with a minimum of 6 years’ operating experience in a Petrochemical environment, with increasing level of responsibility with demonstrated Supervisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge of Risk Management concepts, Environmental Management Authority (EMA), Process Safety Management Systems and Quality Management Systems.
