Hadco Experiences at Asa Wright Nature Centre is looking for a Tour Guide!

 

JOB SUMMARY

The primary duties of the Tour Guide with Hadco Experiences at Asa Wright Nature Centre are to ensure that itineraries are met, and that guests are being informed on the trails, they are also responsible for ensuring the safety of the group and ensuring that tour groups remain together. 

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Undertaking research and planning tours
  2. Preparing and giving presentations
  3. Offering sightseeing advice
  4. Organizing and leading tours on trails
  5. Problem solving
  6. Translating and interpreting
  7. Create positive customer relations.
  8. Respect and maintain natural resources.
  9. Perform other any duties that may be required to develop and enrich the business performance of the facility as requested by management.

  1. Always Following all HSE rules.   
  2. Stopping any work that they recognize as being unsafe and reporting it to their Supervisor.   
  3. Reporting all accidents and incidents they are involved in or witness to their direct Supervisor as soon as they reasonably can.   
  4. Using all equipment in the workplace as designed and with design operating safety features.   
  5. Always conduct themselves in a professional manner, treating everyone in a cordial and direct fashion. HADCO expects everyone to be always treated with respect and dignity.   
  6. Becoming familiar with the HSE procedures required to perform their jobs safely.   
  7. Ensuring full compliance with all applicable legislation and site regulations.   
  8. Attending and actively participate in scheduled HSE training meetings, toolbox talks and HSE programs.   
  9. Performing all work in a safe manner.   
  10. Using all Safe Systems of Work available. For example, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Permits, Risk Assessments, Checklists etc.   
  11. Observing good housekeeping practice.   
  12. Reporting the taking of any medication while at the workplace to their Supervisor.   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Amenable to shifting schedules, including night shifts.
  2. Manage time.
  3. Highly organized and motivated.
  4. Must provide great customer service every time.
  5. Knowledge of Flora and Fauna.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Prior experience as a tour guide is an advantage.
  2. Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
  3. Adherence to prescribed safety codes.
  4. Excellent conversational skills with a knack for storytelling.
  5. Personable, humorous disposition.
  6. Excellent public speaking and narration skills.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  2. Experience in the Eco- Tourism field would be an asset.
