The incumbent will be responsible for determining & developing tailored training programmes to bridge the gaps in the competency requirements of new and existing staff in order to meet the organisation’s objectives. This position also manages internal stakeholder relations by anticipating conflict and providing advice and guidance on issues & decisions that impact on stakeholder relations and ultimately the strategic direction of the institution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work closely with various departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers and employees to understand/implement/adhere to policies and procedures;
  2. Liaise with a wide range of personnel involved in policy areas such as staff performance and disciplinary requirements;
  3. Prepare and update staff information literature; Fliers, HR corner in the Newsletter & Website, Presentations, Employee handbooks etc., based on current legal & regulatory rules/requirements;
  4. Monitor, provide guidance and training & development in the implementation of policies and procedures on issues like working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures, absence management and handling of grievances etc;
  5. Participate in disciplinary hearings, investigations and any other assigned duties.
  6. Maintain Training & IR records for easy retrieval, conduct trend analysis to support performance outcomes and risk elimination strategies;
  7. Assist in the Interpretation of and provide guidance on HR policies & employment law;
  8. Assist supervisors in the development of staff performance management strategies based on competency assessments and Gap analysis;
  9. Assist Supervisors in identifying the training needs and developing Training Plans for all employees
  10. Plan and at times deliver training/awareness sessions – including orientation/induction for new staff and transferred/ re-assigned staff – this includes training persons on job requirements as laid out in job and person specifications, in accordance with supervisor guidance on associated responsibilities, deliverables and reporting elements.
  11. Coordinate staff sessions, events or programmes and recommend resources, as needed.
  12. Monitor employee performance appraisal findings for gap analysis and improvement initiatives.
  13. Champion employee team-building initiatives.
  14. Be a part of the investigatory team on employee matters.

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resource, Business management or Administration, social sciences or a related area.
  • Demonstrate knowledge about Training Planning & Execution with achievement of Objectives & Certification in IR with Specialised certification in 2 or more areas of HR would be an asset.
  • 5 years + experience in either area of Training or Industrial Relations with expert knowledge in the other area is critical.
  • Suitable combination of the aforementioned will be considered based on supporting evidence/history of successful outcomes.
